Special Town Meeting

LEGAL NOTICE

TOWN MEETING

TOWN OF WESTBROOK, CONNECTICUT

 

The legal voters of the Town of Westbrook, Connecticut and all others qualified to vote on matters of said Town are hereby notified and warned that a Special Town Meeting will be held on September 22, 2022 in the Multi-Media Room of the Mulvey Municipal Center, 866 Boston Post Road, Westbrook, Connecticut, at 7:00 p.m., to consider and act upon the following resolutions:

 

Item 1:  To consider and act upon the following, as recommended by the Board of Selectmen and Board of Finance:

 

RESOLVED:  That the First Selectman is hereby authorized to accept a grant from the Westbrook Foundation in the amount of $15,000.00, to be used to facilitate the Senior Center’s Better Balance program, and said amount is hereby appropriated for such purpose.

 

Item 2:  To consider and act upon the following, as recommended by the Board of Selectmen and Board of Finance:

 

RESOLVED:  That the First Selectman is hereby authorized to accept a grant from the Westbrook Foundation in the amount of $22,500.00, to be used for the purchase of technology for the Nursing Department, and said amount is hereby appropriated for such purpose.

 

Item 3:  To consider and act upon the following, as recommended by the Board of Selectmen and Board of Finance:

 

RESOLVED:  That the First Selectman is hereby authorized to accept a grant from the Westbrook Foundation in the amount of $10,000.00, to be used for the purchase of hearing aids, and said amount is hereby appropriated for such purpose.

 

Item 4:  To consider and act upon the following, as recommended by the Board of Selectmen and Board of Finance:

 

RESOLVED:  That the First Selectman is hereby authorized to accept a grant from the Westbrook Foundation in the amount of $15,000.00, to be used for transportation for qualified elderly and disabled Social Services clientele, and said amount is hereby appropriated for such purpose.

 

Item 5:  To consider and act upon the following, as recommended by the Board of Selectmen and Board of Finance:

 

RESOLVED:  That a sum not to exceed $8,000 be appropriated from Contingency to the Police Department to facilitate the purchase of new service weapons. 

 

Item 6:  To consider and act upon the following, as recommended by the Board of Selectmen and Board of Finance:

 

RESOLVED:  That a sum of $1,120.00 be transferred from Public Works to cover a deficit in the closed Public Works Drainage Capital account.

 

Item 7:  To consider and act upon a resolution to approve a general release and hold harmless agreement.

 

RESOLVED:  To approve a general release and hold harmless agreement between the Town of Westbrook and Ronald and Daria Nettleton of 76 Carter Hill Road, Clinton, Connecticut as it relates to a portion of their property that falls within the Horse Hill Woods Trail.

 

Item 8:  To consider and act upon the following, as recommended by the Board of Selectmen:

 

RESOLVED:  To approve the acquisition of certain property and building(s) located at 121 South Main Street, Westbrook, Connecticut, and to authorize the First Selectman to execute such documents as shall be necessary to acquire such property.
