[ARCHIVED] COVID-19 Diligence for Westbrook & Connecticut

In the State of Connecticut’s battle against COVID-19, there’s a vast difference from where we were in mid-April to where we are now.

Currently, COVID-19 continues to trend well in the State of Connecticut compared to other areas of the United States. With this, now is the time to maintain the simple, yet critical preventative illness measures which has resulted in a low infection rate, low positive test rate, and sufficient hospital capacity in the State of Connecticut.

The residents of Westbrook, and the State of Connecticut as a whole, must not become complacent with our current status.

Westbrook parents and legal guardians must maintain responsibility and ensure that our youth are adhering to public health guidelines, such as wearing a mask or cloth face covering in public settings, not congregating in large groups or parties, and maintaining social distancing.

These measures will not only protect our youth, but also continue to shield our most vulnerable elderly population from this highly contagious virus.

Westbrook businesses have shown great care for the community by wearing masks, implementing social distancing parameters, and adhering to the State of Connecticut’s reopening sector rules.

The Town of Westbrook urges Westbrook businesses to continue their valiant efforts in these unprecedented times.

In summary, all Westbrook residents and visitors must continue to do their part by wearing masks in public settings, implement social distancing and physical separation of at least 6 feet between one another, practice hand hygiene, and staying home if feeling ill.

We wear a mask or cloth face covering for one another.   We wash our hands for one another.   We maintain social distancing in a grocery store for one another.

Until public health data shows otherwise, these efforts must continue to further reduce COVID-19 transmission in Westbrook and in our State.
