Town officials are working closely with partners at the state and federal levels, as well as our partners here in Westbrook, to monitor and respond to COVID-19, the 2019 novel Coronavirus. At this time, the Connecticut Department of Public Health State Laboratory has confirmed multiple positive cases of COVID-19 among Connecticut residents.

Ok so lets see if we can get something going on this site. Is it possible the Town Hall at some point will open at least to the extend that Town emloyees are able to go to work and interact with people by phone/ email?

I know many of you may be wondering what the status is regarding the current closing of the Town Hall. We are proceeding with a thorough cleaning of our municipal buildings, per CDC recommendations, which should be completed by the end of the week. Accordingly, all town employees have been asked to report to work on Monday morning, March 23, 2020. It is the intention, based on discussions with other municipalities on the shoreline, that the town hall will be locked and the public will need to call in for individual appointments. Understanding that there are logistical matters with this procedure, they will be finalized on Monday morning. Employees are expected to report to work on Monday to begin the process of how we can best serve the public.

To continue essential town services, the Town Hall will re-open on Monday, 3/23/20 at 9:00 a.m. with the following procedure. The doors of the building will be locked, and ALL members of the public will need to make an appointment with the appropriate department regarding their concerns. Whenever possible, specific issues should be discussed with the employees by telephone or email thereby minimizing social contact. If necessary, a time can be arranged with an employee to meet with you in person to assist with your issue. This is a protocol that several other municipal governments have adopted. We need to finalize procedures for meetings of our Boards and Commissions consistent with Governor Lamont’s Emergency Orders and Freedom of Information guidelines. To reiterate, the Town Hall will be open, by appointment, phone, or email only.
