Fire Marshal

 

The Town of Westbrook is seeking applicants for a part time salaried Fire Marshal, 15 to 24 hours a week.  Under the administrative direction of the Board of Fire Commissioners and the State Fire Marshal’s office, enforces the State Fire Safety Code, including the annual inspection of all occupancies regulated by the Fire Safety Code within the Town of Westbrook for the purpose of assuring code compliance and the elimination of fire hazards. Responsible for identifying and correcting unsafe conditions of Town of Westbrook owned and/or operated building’s and publicly occupied buildings. Investigates fire and hazardous material incidents.

 

Qualifications: 

        Current State of Connecticut Fire Marshal Certification and 7 to 10 years of active fire department experience.  Complete 90 hours of continuing education within a 3 year period to maintain Certification.

        Thorough knowledge of CT Fire Safety Code and CT Fire Prevention Code and related general statutes, local ordinances, regulations and policies.

        Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of current fire technology, including fire suppression, fire hazards, hazardous substances and fire administration.

        Demonstrate knowledge of residential and commercial building construction.

Deputy Fire Marshal

 

This is a part time (varied hours as needed) hourly position that under the supervision of Fire Marshal and the State Fire Marshal’s office, enforces the CT State Fire Prevention Code State Fire Safety Code, including the annual inspection of all occupancies regulated by the Fire Safety Code within the Town of Westbrook for the purpose of assuring code compliance and the elimination of fire hazards. Responsible for identifying and correcting unsafe conditions of Town of Westbrook owned and/or operated building’s and publicly occupied buildings. Investigates fire and hazardous material incidents. The deputy fire marshal will meet all statutory and regulatory requirements of a fire marshal under Connecticut law.  

 

Qualifications:
